ABOUT ME

 

Welcome! My name is Dimitri Syros and this site is a showcase of my work as an educator in Miami, Florida. 

My experience in the field of education began during my time as an undergraduate at New York University. During this period I had the unique opportunity to volunteer with Harlem Children's Zone as well as to teach English and mathematics through study abroad ventures in Prague, Czech Republic, Buenos Aires, Argentina and Cape Town, South Africa.

Upon graduating in 2015, I began my formal teaching career in conjunction with Teach for America Miami-Dade. After a brief stint in Houston, Texas, I joined the team at Norland Middle School in Miami teaching World History, Civics and United States History. Over the past three years my students and faculty have truly become my family. I have had the honor of serving as the Social Studies Department Chair, Boy's Basketball Coach and Rookie Teacher of the Year. I look forward to growing and developing as an educator as I continue on this journey.
